Becoming an author on life

“I BELIEVE IN MY DREAMS!”

After 15 years in the Post Office, 3 years on an island in Alaska, and 12 years on an island in Florida, I quit the “safety and security” of a government job to follow my dream of becoming an entrepreneur. I dropped the “golden handcuffs” and created my own career as a private accountant to the elderly on a tropical island called Sanibel. After 4 very successful years with six clients, time to travel around the world, including two months in Australia over the millennium (December vacations were off limits as a Postal Employee!) working only when I chose to, not because I had to, I got the inner message that it was time to help more than six people. So I took another leap of faith and followed my heart to a college campus. For 15 months, I worked on staff at the University of South Florida (USF) Recruitment and Retention Office because “something” pulled me there, and I listened.

While at USF I met a bright young student, Santiana, who encouraged me to write a book about my life and the things I’ve learned. Becoming a published author has been a dream of mine since I was 12 years old and here was my opportunity to begin. What I didn’t expect were all the fears and doubts that have showed up since. Two years ago, I quit my job at USF to again follow my heart. In the process of writing my book, I moved up north, I now own my own home again after 11 years, and, at 48, finally found the love of my life, Patrick….all the while moving through my own self-created barriers about being an author. For the past two years, I have been fully funded, and that alone is the biggest miracle of my life. Up until that point, I had been very practical always holding a job and earning a living. When I learned that following my passion was not going to be logical or practical, I decided to make my own life a science experiment and test this phenomenon. I did, and it’s true, and things are going really well.

My book is nearly complete, and I now realize that I absolutely require coaching to bring it to print. Procrastination, fear, doubt, you name it, are all showing up. Marcia, I know you’ve written many books, and you understand the mind games that go on when one is this close to realizing THE BIG DREAM. Traveling around the world, buying my own home (without a job), and finding Patrick were all easy compared to becoming a published author and public speaker.

My book is called “The Road to Graduation – Secrets to Your Success in College and Beyond”. I am writing the book I wish I had when I was in college, and one that I require reading right now. I am the poster child on how not to do college. Please help me bring it to print. Please coach me into my BIG DREAM. My goal is to educate and inspire college students to find their joy and passion in life through the discovery of their own unique interests and ideas. I take students from the classroom to the real world showing them that how they do college is how they do life. I have so much to share and I’m ready to play BIG. I just need a little nudge. I’m that close.

“Do you know what happened to the man (woman) who suddenly got everything he (she) ever wanted? He (she) lived happily ever after.” --- Willy Wonka, from the movie “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory”

Marcia, please help me make my BIGGEST DREAM of being a published author and public speaker come true. I will be eternally grateful! CHOOSE ME!!
