Dream Life

I became a 'Dreamer' 5 years ago...the 'Amazing' portion of the title I will humbly acknowledge today. THAT in itself is amazing. Like many of us, I had a mixed bag of thoughts about myself. Average looking/pretty, not smart enough/damn bright, loser/winner, etc. Then I had a revelation. At age 50, if I didn't change the way I thought about things or myself, I would be committed to the insanity of contradictory thinking and generally negative self-image the rest of my productive days. I wasn't done yet. In fact, I felt I hadn't even STARTED yet!! In my long daily commute to a job I liked OK (2 ferry boats and a 1/2 mile walk), I started writing my 'Dream Life'. I wrote these lists everyday on the boat for 15 minutes to a 1/2 hour. If I was stuck in a waiting room or bored somewhere, I found some little scrap of paper and would start writing what life would look like if I was 'spinning all my plates' of skills and talents. It really is funny how life will snap, crackle and pop for you when you start creating a dream...a sincere and detailed dream list. Somewhere in my deepest heart, I knew I would be speaking to women one day and making a difference in their lives in some small way, I would be making a good income (more than my fun, but average-paying job at the time), and working from HOME. Physical dreams had to partner with those goals to have the endurance and health to see them through, so I added those too. Fast forward to today. It's almost time to create new dreams, but I am now working from home, am meeting my income goals, and speak in front of women for a living as well as train OTHERS to do the same. I have the time to exercise regularly and am a satisfying weight I have been able to maintain for 3 years. I'm not 'there' yet (there is no 'there', by the way), but at 55 I feel, look and have an enthusiasm for my future that I wish I'd had at 40. Dreaming starts everything, and the best part is that the 'coming true' part happens when YOU'RE AWAKE!!!
